FILM AND ANIMATION DIRECTOR

Alois Di Leo is a director, producer, writer and animator born in Lima, Perú and raised in São Paulo, Brazil where he founded the animation studio SINLOGO Animation. Alois Di Leo has worked in commercials, music videos and short films. His work has been showcased all around the globe as well as on some of the most important online platforms such as Vimeo Staff Picks, IDN, AWN and Short of the Week.

His first short film, “The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Lion” played in over 70 festivals around the world, including Cannes Critique, Hiroshima, Annecy and São Paulo, and won several awards, notably the Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award for best animated film in the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film.  

His second short film, “Caminho dos Gigantes” (Way of Giants), a 2d animated short film, premiered in 2016 at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival as part of the Official Selection. The short tells the story of a 6 year old indigenous girl as she confronts the cycle of life and the concept of destiny. Since its premiere the films has been selected to more than 150 international film festival and has won 26 awards notably, Best of the Fest at the Oscar Qualifying Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, Best Director at Curta Cinema 2016 Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival, Prize for Best sound Concept ANIMA MUNDI 2016, and Prix TV5 MONDE at the 25th Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine. “Caminho dos Gigantes” was also selected by Annecy as part of “Best of Annecy Kids 2016”.

Alois graduated with an MA in Animation Direction from the National Film and Television School in London before returning to Brazil to continue his creative career at Sinlogo Animation.  At the moment he is working on his next films.

Alois Di Leo é um diretor, produtor, escritor e animador nascido em Lima, Perú. Vive em São Paulo faz 17 anos onde fundou o estúdio de animação SINLOGO Animation.

Já trabalho em comerciais, music videos, series de TV e curta metragens. Seu primeiro curta-metragem “The Boy Who wanted to be a Lion (2010)”, filme em animação, passou em diversos festivais pelo mundo incluindo Semana da Critica do Festival de Cannes, Hiroshima, Annecy, Anima Mundi, e ganhou alguns prêmios como o Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award por melhor filme no “Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film”.

Seu segundo curta-metragem “Caminho dos Gigantes” (Way of Giants) estreou em Annecy em 2016 na seleção oficial do festival. Até a data o filme ja entrou em mais de cento e cinquenta festivais e ganhou 26 prêmios como “Best of the Fest” no Oscar qualifying Chicago Children’s Film Festival, “Prix du Jury” no 25ª Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine e “Melhor Diretor” no Curta Cinema 2016 no Rio de Janeiro. “Caminho dos Gigantes” foi selecionado pelo festival de Annecy como parte do “Best of Annecy Kids 2016”.

Alois tem um Mestrado em Direção de Animação pela NFTS National Film and Television School.
